Last night was a crucial game for the Los Angele Kings in their quest to get their first ever Stanley Cup so the Anaheim fans can finally shut up about it. But last night however, I now have my doubts. I was watching the whole game on FS Prime Ticket, and we started off strong. 2 goals within a 13 second time span in the first 5 minutes of the 1st period lit up the Staples Center like the lamp. Then to close off the 1st period yet ANOTHER goal was scored to put the score at 3-0 Kings. Now since the Shark's coach has been saying that the first to 3 wins a game, and the Kings gave San Jose a run for their money at the last Sharks home game, I'm feeling really good at this point.
The second period started off strong for the Kings again, with another goal scored to make it 4-0, now the whole building is starting to feel another shut out with an even HIGHER margin than the game on Sunday. 3 minutes later San Jose scores again and life starts to suck. Also the Sharks pulled their starting goal tender for the relief. A Power Play 4-on-4 goal for the Sharks came soon enough but the Kings came back to score and turn the tables and make the score 5-3. Then things fell apart for LA when the defense was lacking and the Sharks starting putting the hurt on Jonathan Quick. The Sharks scored 5 goals in the span of 16 minutes and the 2nd period ended with a 5-5 tie.
The 3rd was a nail biter, but no goals were made. Quick made some beautiful saves but the offense wasn't putting the pressure on San Jose. Overtime was upon us and it was a redux of game one in San Jose. The Sharks scored the winning goal and now a series that was a 1-1 tie has now tipped into the Shark's favor, 2 games to one. Also even if the Kings win the next 2 games at home, they still have to go back to San Jose for a game 6. That is, if the Sharks don't win again at all while they are in Los Angeles.
Here's the link to the LA Kings website for more details on the game last night and the upcoming games.
